General styles and directions of design

In interior design, as in any other art, there are lots of styles and directions.
You can choose one of them. You can consult a specialist while choosing them, or choose a combination of them, or propose Your own style of design, a unique variant that will most fully and adequately express Your inner world and Your conception of beauty and comfort.

In the modern era of detailed worlds civilization familiarization with different cultures, a new ability appeared, that gives an opportunity for people to use different unique features of various cultural styles and features in decorating Your house. Depending on Your sympathy, You can choose one or another historically built design style, and use it partly or in detail in Your interior.

Antique style
This style is well known to us due to the wonderful monuments of Ancient Greece and Rome, monuments of architecture and sculptures. Till today they cause seizure for its unique and complete beauty. The Coliseum,  Triumphal arch, columns, cylindrical vaults, beautiful sculptures of famous people, gods, goddesses, wonderful art paintings attract by its harmony, and are an example of imitation.

Gothic style

Gothic architecture stresses the up-to-sky direction of cathedrals and castles through the arrow-like arches, decorated with colorful stained glass, which nicely fill the whole space with picturesque light. This stile differs through its refinement. Beautiful pictures, gilded frame mirrors, tapestries, carpets, walls decorated with fabrics.

Known for its stylistic element – calisthenics of walls, due to which, an effect appears as the wall loses its main feature – reliability and monumentality, while taking a dynamic appearance. In  interior appears comprehensiveness,  rounded corners, lots of mirrors, gilded molding, painting the ceiling, using the effect of “moving space”. Style inherent splendor and majesty of scale. The facade and interior richly decorated with decorative elements such as the bas-reliefs, sculptural groups, vases, etc.

Classic style

Here we have basic features – symmetries and simplicity. Smooth walls with limited amount of clearness, which does not hide the whole structure; soft colors of white and blue flowers, perspective effects in the minimalism of arts, a perfect landscape, inspires a dream of a “Golden Age”. Classic style includes beautiful geometrical forms, restrained décor, expensive materials. Buildings are often decorated with sculptures and modeling.

Modern style

The slogan of this style sounds like ”back to the nature”. A common difficult system of ornament, which is based – strongly stylized flowers, plants and swans. This style has a symbol – an elegant form of tsiklomen flower. For modern of “new wave”, which appeared at the turn of 19th and 20th centuries, was used a decline of old style forms, and a search for new materials: iron, glass and concrete.  Free planning, different levels of flooring, large window frames. During the work on interior, designer uses improvisation on a selected theme. On the walls we see a bizarre turning lines with apparent tendency to asymmetries. Walls of the building are colorful, often decorated with plaster plastics. Furniture is decorated with stylized plant ornaments. A single project often combines sculpture, painting and decorative - applied art. A functional zoning is also used. Interior design rises to incredible sophistication. The form of windows, doors and stairs varies to infinity. Ceramic liners, forged items, window and door floral stained glass are often used too.

Art-décor style

A combination of elements including Egyptian art, American Indian exotics and simple African arts. An etalon of the style is shown in the stylish luxurious elements of ocean liners and expensive hotels. Furniture styles have a common usage of decorative elements in a form of zigzags, ovals, triangular, suns. In color schemes saturated brown tones, ivory and all shades of gold are used.

Minimalism style

Pithiness of forms, mainly mixed to geometric figures. Nothing extra. Open space is cultivated in design, aesthetics of simplicity and accuracy is emphasized, all elements of life are carefully hidden. Things have a small shape and there is a minimum of them. A complete missing of décor, ornaments and understanding of composition. Reticent image of scale walls and floors can be combined with a bright interior.

Country style

In English “country” means “village”. A nostalgia for quiet rural life is a common for this style. Characteristics for this style are simplicity and naturalness, absence of creativity. Bricks and wood are a common for this style. Cowboy motives are very popular, cell or tissue in small flower fabrics  are also much popular. Color scheme is conservative: the shades of greenish, beige, various shades of brown can be combined with red and green inclusions.

High-tech style

Presents a modern modification of technologies. It differs for its super-technologies in which building construction, engineering systems and equipment are out in the decorative and theatrical elements of exaggeration, and sometimes irony. Hi-Tech focuses on the aesthetic development of metal and glass structures, and elements of engineering equipment. It is important to highlight the beauty of holder lights, anchorages and more. All elements are practical and functional. Favorite colors: metallic silver, white, black. Materials: metal, glass, pipes…
